For 16-year-old Marissa, battling lymphoid leukemia was a tough road. But thinking about her wish options helped take her mind off of her illness. Marissa chose Hawaii because she wanted to go somewhere she and her family could have the chance to both relax by the pool and go on great adventures. She could hardly wait for the exciting journey ahead.
Once in Hawaii, they stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, which was absolutely beautiful. There was so much to do at the hotel that there was almost no reason to leave. However, they found many more activities waiting them beyond the hotel grounds. Some of Marissa’s favorite activities were horseback riding, visiting the waterfalls and going to a luau. She also went on a glass bottom boat for a dinner cruise and the captain even let her steer for a little.
The last adventure was swimming with dolphins. Marissa said, “It was cool to swim with my favorite mammal!” To end the trip, Marissa went to the spa with her family and they all got relaxing massages. When asked what the best part of the trip was, Marissa responded, “I would love to tell you my absolute favorite part of the trip, but the truth is I can’t choose!” Marissa’s wish trip was perfect from start to finish. It was the best choice because it benefited not only Marissa, but her family as well. They will not easily forget the amazing memories they made on their stress-free, fun-filled getaway.
