One of four-year-old Whitney’s favorite things to do is swim. She cannot get enough of playing in the water and splashing around. Make-A-Wish® wanted to know what they could do to help Whitney deal with her coronary artery anomaly, and it was a surprise to no one when she said she wanted a swimming pool.
The day of Whitney’s wish party she was shaking with excitement, desperately wanting to go for a dip. She turned to her mother and enthusiastically said, “Mom, I have waited very patiently for this. Can we go swimming now?” She was overcome with joy and could not wait to jump into her new pool. Just when Whitney thought her day could not get any better, she also received a new swimsuit, goggles and pool toys!
Whitney and her family had so much fun playing in their new pool in Washington, PA. They could not have been more grateful to Make-A-Wish for giving them an escape from Whitney’s health problems, and a great way to bond with one another. Whitney’s mom said, “Everyone she sees, she tells them, ‘I have a wish pool!’" Whenever Whitney goes for a swim, she will be reminded of her first day with the pool and the enjoyment the unveiling brought her.
