To help ensure the safety and security of our wish children and their families, we carefully screen all potential volunteers. Applicants are invited to a one-on-one orientation followed by a mandatory training course. Prospective volunteers must also apply for and obtain a state criminal history background check and agree to abide by the policies and procedures of Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia and its national organization, Make-A-Wish®
Wish-granting volunteers must be 21 years of age or older and must agree to work as part of a two or three-person team. New wish volunteers work with an existing wish team as a trainee for up to three wishes.
Witness the magic of a wish firsthand. It’s easy to apply.
At Make-A-Wish, we ask children four simple questions:
- If you could GO anywhere, where would you go?
- If you could MEET anyone, who would you meet?
- If you could HAVE anything, what would you choose?
- If you could GIVE something to anyone, what would it be?
- If you could BE anything, what would you be?
You will witness firsthand how asking these questions alters the lives of sick children and their families forever…for the better. And we bet your life changes as well.
