Because of the hard work of our outstanding volunteers and of our gracious donors, local wish families have new moments to be thankful for around the table this Thanksgiving. These wishes would not have been possible without you.
Here are a few messages of thanks that we received from our wonderful wish kids and their families:
"This trip nourished my son’s imagination and gave him confidence. To know that he is not alone and that people care was just so gratifying. This was an experience of a lifetime and memories that we will never forget! Raulin felt like a king and that means the world to us. Our family is will always be grateful and thankful for our vacation."
"When I was five-years-old, I was diagnosed with an uncontrolled seizure disorder. The doctors bounced me around from medication to medication. A good day for me was when I only had to take 26 pills. But, everything changed once I met with my Make-A-Wish® volunteers. In 2003, I was granted my wish to go to the American Girl Place in Chicago, IL. The stories behind each doll provided me with an escape from my illness.
Now, I am 23 and attending a masters program in poetry where I can write my own stories for others to escape in. Despite all odds being against me, the memories from my wish and my aspiration to be a writer have kept me going. I will forever be thankful for my wish experience."
"This trip was the first since almost two years of living in the hospital. To see her walking around Disney with so much excitement and being treated so special was the best gift – you are such an amazing group!
When we came home from our trip, we were blown away by our experience. It was so much more than we could of ever imagined."
"My youngest son was a Make-A-Wish child in 1998. And we can never be thankful or grateful enough to Make-A-Wish for granting his wish. My son’s wish was to attend the Daytona 500 NASCAR Race and meet his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. It was truly a trip of a lifetime for him, as well as his older brother and his dad and me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again Make-A-Wish, for the joy that was brought to all of us during a very difficult time."
"I believe Blake’s wish trip made him feel special and important. We always refer to Blake taking us on this awesome vacation, so he feels important that the family had such a great time with him on 'his' trip. He has an excellent memory as well, and details all the days of the trip frequently. His face lights up every time he talks about his trip to others.
I know Make-A-Wish hears ‘thank you’ all the time, but we want to say thank you too! From the bottoms of our hearts, thank you and all the wonderful people involved in making kids’ dreams come true!"
Make-A-Wish will forever be thankful for our wish families, our volunteers, our donors and our supportive community.
From all of us at Make-A-Wish Greater®Pennsylvania and West Virginia, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
