This wish kid has a long family history of military service, including his mother – who is now-Air Force Staff Sergeant, security forces, 171st Air Refueling Wing – and because of these deep military roots, some of Jared's favorite topics to learn about are the events of World War II. After doing some research before his wish trip, Jared discovered that he had a possible relative who served during WWII at Pearl Harbor. As he was visiting the USS Arizona Memorial, he came across a fallen sailor who shared his same last name. Throughout his time spent at Pearl Harbor, Jared had the opportunity to both learn about and honor the men and women who courageously served on this historic day in 1941.
Marine for the Day
Aside from Jared's wish to visit Pearl Harbor, he also took part in other activities while in Hawaii, including the chance to become a marine for a day. Before his wish trip, Jared also joined the Marines of Truck Company, 25th Marine Regiment of Erie, PA, during his wish reveal event.
Make-A-Wish® Hawaii, the assisting chapter that helped make Jared’s wish come true, explained it as:
Such a memorable day. Over 100 Marines were touched by the power of Jared's Wish. His smile was infectious. We were watching their faces too as Jared went behind the scenes to see all the work these men and women do to protect us all. Jared made sure to thank them for their service and for taking the time for him.
Here are some more pictures from Jared’s wish experience:

Here at Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, we want to thank all of the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed their lives for this country.
And a special thank you to all of the marines who helped make Jared’s wish-come-true!
