Chris Rupp, a 25-year-old firefighter who has been biking across the country to raise funds for Make-A-Wish, helped to reveal two wishes as he rode to the fire stations in Parkersburg and Clarksburg, W.Va., on Sunday, July 20, 2014, and Monday, July 21, 2014, respectively.
Upon his arrival in Parkersburg, Rupp was greeted by 12-year-old wish kid Tiffany and her family. During his stop, Make-A-Wish revealed that Tiffany's wish for a shopping spree would be coming true. A limo whisked her off for her special day.
In Clarksburg, Rupp was greeted by eight-year-old wish kid Shania, who wished for an adaptive bike so she could ride with her brothers again. During his stop, Rupp revealed that Shania's wish would be coming true. Her wish was revealed in style -- Shania's adaptive bike arrived via firetruck. As the firetruck came closer, Shania exclaimed, "Bike! Bike!"
"I've showed her pictures of the bike online before, and I said to Shania I hope one day you can have one and now she finally can," said Shania's mom.
Chris Rupp began his epic trek on May 28, 2014, in Seattle, Wash., and plans to finish on August 17, 2014, in Miami, Fla. Throughout his 6,000-mile journey, Rupp hopes to raise not only awareness, but also $100,000 for Make-A-Wish. Donations can be made online at rideforwishes.us.
