Four-year-old Fiona, from Easton, PA, is a dinosaur enthusiast. But don’t be fooled by her small stature – this petite paleontologist can brave even the biggest dino bones. After being diagnosed with leukemia, Fiona found faith through these gigantic fossils, allowing her to bear the same tough-skin as her favorite pre-historic creatures. So when Fiona was asked for her one-true-wish, it came to no surprise she wanted to kick back the clock and visit Dinosaurs Alive! at Dorney Park.
When Fiona and her family arrived at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA, Fiona was given a private tour of land where dinosaurs roam and her imagination came to life. At every turn, Fiona was greeted with an enormous adventure – over 40 life-sized dinosaurs, to be exact. Everything from the Tyrannosaurus Rex to the Triceratops peaked Fiona’s fascination. She even got to visit dinosaur exhibits that presented scenes and stories based on real fossil evidence.
“It was a great experience and Fiona absolutely loved it. She even had the chance to impress the staff with her dinosaur knowledge,” Fiona’s mom said.
One of Fiona’s favorite explorations was digging into some fun at the Kids Dig Site, containing hidden skeleton from a large predator waiting to be uncovered. Fiona was up for the quest – she dressed in an official vest and dug her way to dinosaur bones. With each fossil she unearthed, Fiona had the discovery of excitement.
While at Dorney Park, Fiona and her family also had the opportunity to visit the water park and Planet Snoopy, where they were given a surprise performance by the Boogie Down Band. “This was a truly touching part,” Fiona’s mom said, because one of the group members also had childhood leukemia and wanted to do something special for his fellow fighter.
“Our trip was beyond expectations and truly a wonderful experience,” Fiona’s mom said. By exploring her dinosaur dream, Fiona found more than just fossils – she revealed the true power of a wish with memories that will stand the test of time.
