Seventeen-year-old wish kid Francesca lives and breathes all things fashion; she loves keeping up-to-date with all of the new trends and even coming up with her own, unique fashion ideas. She is a true fashionista! While Francesca also enjoys writing for her school newspaper, it has been her dream to write for a fashion magazine – something she only ever saw possible in the distant future – that is, until she attended this year’s LA Fashion Week.
This past March, Francesca traveled to the City of Angels where her dream became a reality as she spent her wish week guest blogging for Glamour Magazine during Style Fashion Week, the premier event of LA Fashion Week. Style Fashion Week is any fashion-lover’s fantasy as it consists of five days complete with runway shows, product launches, red carpet arrivals, gifting suites, performances and designer showcases.
Francesca’s VIP status began immediately when she arrived to LA as she was whisked away to a jewelry store, Sarah Lenard Fine Jewelers, where she was surprised with some glamorous gifts from Charles Garnier Paris that would be sure to make her red-carpet ready. The glitz and glam only continued from that point on, as she attended the exclusive Opening Ceremony of LA Fashion Week; received massive boxes full of chic designer clothes, shoes and accessories that would last her for the entire week; interviewed during the live-streaming coverage of LA Fashion Week with LAPRIVY Magazine; and met and toured the studio of one of her idols, Rachel Zoe.
When Francesca wasn't busy blogging about topics such as the “5 Trends You Can Wear Right Now From the Runways at L.A. Fashion Week,” she was living the highlife as she got her hair and make-up styled before attending events, walked the red-carpet, sat front row at all of the runway shows of her choice, and met and mingled with only the most dazzling of designers.
“I now feel that I am more than my diagnosis," said Francesca. "I am an evolving story, one that is far from ending.”
If Francesca thought her week spent in fashion world was over, she thought wrong. On her last day, Francesca found out that she was staying in the same hotel as fashion icon Betsy Johnson. Soon enough, like a true fashion writer, Francesca interviewed Betsy Johnson as they sat in the tea room of the renowned Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Although Francesca’s wish finally had to come to an end, memories of new friends and her wish-come true will not soon be forgotten. When reflecting upon her wish in her blog, Frankly Francesca
, she explained, “This experience is something that I will carry with me, not only in my heart, but in my ambitions, for many years to come.”
