Buck, a six-year-old wish kid, has a tough battle fighting a life-threatening metabolic disorder, but playing with his family's Boston Terrier always brings him joy. However, Buck wanted a puppy he could care for himself. When his first meeting with his volunteers arrived, he knew exactly what he wanted to wish for -- to be the “dad” of his very own Boston Terrier puppy.
His volunteers and Make-A-Wish staff worked on creating a surprise party for Buck where his wish would be revealed. When Buck came to the Make-A-Wish office in Morgantown, WV, for a visit, he was surprised to find a volunteer carrying his new puppy! Buck was joined by his parents and little sister for a special celebration that included his favorite food -- pizza. One by one, he opened gifts for his new puppy, which included a crate, dog bed, food, treats, collar, leash and toys. As he held the puppy in his arms, Buck announced that his new pal's name was Wishful.
Buck and Wishful are inseparable. Wishful is by Buck's side everywhere he goes, whether it be around the house or outside playing in the yard. He gives Buck hope that he can conquer anything -- including his medical condition -- and Buck, in return, is making sure that he is a good "dad" to this adorable pup.
