Here are a few of Paige’s favorite parts from her trip…
“We went to about three different beaches that day, and it was hard to pick which one was my favorite because everything in Hawaii is beautiful. Later that evening, we went to the chief luau, which was probably one of my favorite things about the whole trip. As soon as we got there, we got air brush tattoos by one of the dancers. We also made our own headbands out of the coconut tree leafs. Then it was time to eat, and although that might be a lot of other people’s favorite things about visiting Hawaii, for me it was being called up on stage. When I got called up onto the stage with other wish kids, it was nice knowing that I wasn’t the only kid out there struggling with something; it made me feel better. The Chief said a prayer for us and I have to admit, I teared up a little.”
“The next activity we did in Hawaii was snorkeling. I never went snorkeling, so this was something new to me. The boat we had was a speed boat, which was cool because I love moving fast. When they told us we had to wear flippers, I was thinking, “No way, I was not putting those on,” but it’s a good thing I did because they helped me swim back to the boat quicker. When they first put us in the water, I saw thousands of fish. The water was crystal clear, and I could see every single thing that was in the ocean. We got to see some sea turtles, which was cool because we were told that it’s hard to find them. People tend to get to close to them, and they swim where there are less people around. The driver of our boat really wanted us to get a chance to swim with the dolphins, so we sailed about 30 minutes out to find them. It was awesome to see the dolphins flipping.”
“Sadly, it was time to go, and we headed to the airport. I truly didn’t want to leave Hawaii; it was such a beautiful place. I would really like to thank Make-A-Wish for all that you guys did for me and my family. I would never, EVER get this chance in a lifetime, and I don’t think I would ever get to express how thankful I am.”
