2016 Light Up A Child's Life® Campaign

The Light Up A Child’s Life® campaign has been making the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions a little bit brighter for the past 28 years. The courageous stories of our wish kids motivate both our volunteers and donors alike. By granting wishes, everyday people can make a difference in a child's life. Grapevine is an evening of wine, food and silent auction with proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish. The event raised more than $60,000 it's most successful year ever!

  • Pictured here are Make-A-Wish Marketing/Communications Manager, Dana Antkowiak with wish kid Lisa. In 2012, Lisa's wish to visit the sun-kissed beaches of Hawaii was granted.

  • Pictured here are students of Derry Area High School Interact Club. Since 1994, Derry Area High School Interact Club has been in support of Make-A-Wish. In the spring, the students host a Bachelor Auction to raise funds for wish granting. This year, the students raised $28,000, one of their largest donations to date.

  • Pictured here are students of the Highlands High School NHS. This year the students held a dodgeball tournament along with selling raffle tickets--all proceeds were donated to Make-A-Wish.

  • Pictured here are students of the Penn-Trafford School District. The students, faculty, staff and community in Penn-Trafford School District come together each year to organize a letter writing campaign. Everyone writes their letters to Santa and drops them off at Macy's on National Believe Day. This year, Penn-Trafford wrote more than 8,000 letters.

  • Pictured here is Wish 99.7 Radio host Cris Winters, Mark Cinna from ThermoFisher Scientific and Dana Antkowiak from Make-A-Wish. This year was the 10th celebration of the Tom Sajko Memorial Golf Outing in Beaver Falls, PA. Funds are raised through the generous donations of ThermoFisher Scientific employees and golfers who attend the event. In addition, the ThermoFisher Scientific Corporation donates matching gifts during the tournament.

Since 2007, Steel City Harley-Davidson has been holding fundraisers for Make-A-Wish--their most successful being their motorcycle rides. Overall, they have raised more than $41,000 from their loyal customers and riders.

  • Pictured here are donors, Alex Pritchard and the Associates of Gateway Health Plan. Alex, who just turned 11-years-old, heard our campaign on the radio last year. After hearing the mission of Make-A-Wish, Alex was inspired to help raise funds to grant a wish. His goal was to raise $4,400 by selling his handmade crafts, however he made more than $5,000 surpassing his initial goal.The Associates of Gateway Health had wished Alex a Happy Birthday and sung to him to show their appreciation. Gateway Health Plan has also shown their support to Make-A-Wish by joining in on the broadcast.

Since the the school began their support in 1991, the students of Eisenhower Elementary participate in fundraisers to benefit Make-A-Wish. Every year the school hosts an annual math-a-thon, filled with fun math activities for students. Last year's math-a-thon raised almost $6,000 for Make-A-Wish.

NCBC holds a strong belief that "community should become before self," so in the spirit of giving NCBC has donated $5,000 to Make-A-Wish.

  • Wish kids Tiahna and Trey joined Shannon for the campaign. In 2010 both siblings had their wishes granted. Tiahna wished to go to the Orlando theme parks and Trey wished to own a brand new piano.

The challenge is a friendly competition among NRG employees. The team had decided to donate their cash reward to CHP and Make-A-Wish.
